Architects: Raúl Sánchez Architects
Location: Guifré, 4 (Barcelona)
Floor space: 110 m² two-story apartment

Two separate apartments in an old apartment building located in Barcelona were converted into a duplex, extending the main living space between the mezzanine and the ground floor. Both apartments required structural intervention due to their state of disrepair.

The project required a review of the foundation, the precise placement of central frames and the cutting of the existing wooden beams to create the openings for the two-story height. The wooden beams now rest on new steel frames or are supported by the lower wings of the new beams in order to allow the clean extrusion of the frames.

The newly created duplex was also fitted with radiant floor heating and a high-efficiency air conditioning system.
