Architects: Ferran Huerta – Jordi Llobell
Location: Mare de Deu del Coll 100-102 (Barcelona)
Floor space: 1,488 m² including a basement level, ground floor, mezzanine, 2nd and 3rd floors.

This multi-family residential building occupying an area of 1,488 m² in Vallcarca (Barcelona) was designed by Ferran Huerta and Jordi Llobell in 2020. The building houses ten residential units, four of which are duplexes, and a basement parking garage with ten parking spaces and ten storage rooms.

The building’s main facade is made of prefabricated GRC-type concrete panels with different textures. The design of the rear facade includes a “SATE” external thermal insulation system to avoid possible thermal bridges. The balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floors are fitted with ‘Red Cedar’ wooden lattices for solar protection.

Each one of the homes in this multi-family building has a DHW system powered by a set of thermal solar collectors located on the roof of the building, reinforced by a thermo-accumulator.

The air conditioning system consists of a network of ducts concealed behind each unit’s dropped ceilings, powered by high efficiency heat pumps, with the system’s external units located on the communal rooftop terrace.
